Anna Aguirre
READY-TO-WEAR SPECIALIST
Anna has been working in alterations for over 10 years, focusing on ready-to-wear garments and menswear. She started “sewing” in middle school by cutting up t-shirts, sewing band patches onto garments she bought at Hot Topic, and upcycling thrift-store jackets into handbags. Since she always knew she was going to go to art school, she barely passed her math classes. Little did she know sewing is ALL math! Now it’s one of her favorite things about sewing.
Anna is originally from Wisconsin, and moved to San Francisco for college. Right out of college, Anna got a job working at Levi’s in San Francisco, doing alterations and custom designs. This experience changed her perspective on the apparel industry and the importance of slow fashion and garment repurposing. She then moved to Portland. Aside from working at Silhouette, Anna teaches sewing and alterations classes and does technical work for various indie sewing pattern companies. In her free time, she loves to watch Bravo tv shows, and work on craft projects. Her current favorite craft is punch needle.
